Laura's PROM Story

By Laura, Langhorne, PA US
PROM at 32 weeks + 4 days. Delivery at 35 weeks + 2 days.
Story added: 2010-11-04
I started a "slow leak" at 32 weeks and 4 days. I was put in the hospital for 8 days and then they released me because I was no longer leaking (sealed up). I saw the Dr. every week after that and he would give me a nitrazine test and a ferning test. At my 35 week appointment, the nitrazine test was positive again and he said it was time to induce. My daughter was born at 35 weeks and 2 days and was perfectly healthy and did not go to the NICU. I did have a postpartum hemorrhage though. I got pregnant again 7 months later. I started getting contractions around 21 weeks. At 24 weeks I was in L&D w/contractions and I was diagnosed with cervical funneling. I was put on bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy. At 37 weeks I was induced due to severe oligohydramnios (low fluid - even though the nitrazine tests were negative). He was born at 37 weeks and went to the NICU for a week, but is now a healthy 3 year old. I am now 17 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child and am worried what will go wrong this time. The perinatologist determined that I should not get the 17P shots. Instead I am getting bi-weekly cervical ultrasounds until 26 weeks. I'm praying that I get to 38 weeks this time!
