I hope that this story, although it is lengthy ,will incourage someone who is losing hope. My wife and I after trying to get pregnant for almost two years were told we would have to go I.V.F. so we did and after the second try we ended up pregnant with not one but THREE!

Words can't describe how blessed we felt that GOD would do that for us. In her seventh week my wife was hospitalized with severe broncitous and dehydration. That same week she miscarried one of the babies. One week later she woke up bleeding and we went to the E.R. and the doctors discovered that we had lost a second baby. Needless to say , although we know and trust GOD, we were very upset by now. In our minds we were wondering when the third baby would be lost.

At 16 weeks my wife woke up thinking she had wet the bed. We went to the doctor and they said that it was the water from one of the other babies that finally worked its way down. A week later we went back for an ultrasound only to discover that our baby had no fluid around it. The doctor came to me and said that normally they terminate the pregnancy at this point. I asked her if the baby still had a heartbeat and she said yes it did so I told her that termination was not an option! I felt GOD would decide if this baby lived. We went to the specialist the following week and she said we had less than a 5% chance of the baby surviving due to the lack of fluid which develops the lungs. But what she didn't know was we knew the real specialist (GOD!). She sent my wife home to bed and told her to drink plenty of liquids. Aside from that she said there was nothing she could do.

In the 25TH week my wife woke up bleeding so we got her to the hospital and she was contracting every 3to 5 minutes and when she would contract the babies heart rate would drop due to the cord being conpressed. They put her on magnesium to stop the contractions and gave her steriods for the babies lungs. Two weeks later they felt the baby couldn't take it any longer so at 27 weeks they delivered a 1LB.14.9OZ. baby boy! The doctors had warned us about limb contractures (the arms and legs would be in a frozen or contracted position) this is due to not having room to move during utero. But GOD had a little different plan. Our baby was on the ventilator for one day, his arms and legs move perfectly and although he is still in NICU (born Feb.20,2000) He has a perfect brain scan and perfect eyes and is still on the nasal canula which they are slowly weining him from.

I am so thankful that GOD saw enough favor with me and my wife to give us such a precious gift. He has been in NICU for almost 3 months now but we have made some special friends with the nurses and other parents and I thank God for that. If there is anyone who needs to talk, please call at (334)675-0252.

P.S. the specialist who said he had a 5% chance was on call the weekend he was born and had to deliver our baby Tanner!
