Story added: 2001-11-17
My water broke November 3, 2001 at 7:30 P.M.
I went to hospital where they verified that water had broken, and did a ultrasound to determine baby's weight.Antibiotics were started.
The decision was made to transfer me to another hospital with an NICU by ambulance. I Arrived at the other hospital was accessed with another ultrasound and admitted. I was on bed rest in hospital waiting for labor or until the 35th week. On the evening of November 6th the moved me to labor and delivery to start softening the cervix. The next morning they started pitocin still no regular contractions had to keep uping the level to maximum. Gave me epidural at 2 centimeters because of level of pitocin. I had pitocin
for all day and night on the 7th and no dialation increase and had started to hemorage. The decision was made to do
a cesarean but I needed blood before they could do it.
While waiting for blood from the blood bank The doctors
checked me and I was 6 centimeters. They started blood transfusion after the 2nd bag I was 9 plus centimeters.
The doctor had me start pushing. They had to lower the epidural so I could feel contractions and push more effectivly. After a short time pushing. The baby was born November 8th at 2:17 p.m.
weighing 4lbs 13 oz. She had a agpar score of 8/9. She was healthy and didn't need the NICU. They had a hard time delivering the placenta. After it was delivered they saw where it had started to abrupt. I was continued on blood trasfusion of 3 more bags plus antibiotics for 24 hours more. In total I spent 1 week in the hospital and the baby and I went home together on Sat. November 10th.
