Cheri's PROM Story

By Cheri, Oscar, LA US
PROM at 18 weeks + 3 days. Delivery at 26 weeks + 1 days.
Story added: 2001-12-17
I always said I would share my story no matter what the outcome had been, and so here I am.

Carrying twins,I began losing fluid from one of the sacs at 18 weeks. The doctors painted a terribly grim picture with little hope at all for either baby. We were told that it would be a "heroic" act to deliver one without the other. We were devastated having tried for three years to conceive. We decided that we would not induce, and let God decide the outcome.

After the initial diagnosis, I stayed in the hospital for about 4 days; I was then sent home for bedrest for 5 weeks.( That is where I discovered this site.) When I made it to 24 weeks, the doctor put me back in the hospital. I made it two more weeks. I then became sick and had to have a c section. I had two beautiful boys, Walker and Luke. Walker passed away after two days. He was the one with the PROM. Luke is still in the hospital after 8 weeks but he is doing great.

My advice to you is to have faith in God, and be ready to accept His will no matter what it may be. However, although the doctors will be pessimistic, there is a chance. This has been the most difficult and saddest experience of my life and I am so sorry that you, too, are going through this. If you would like to email me, I would be glad to hear from you.
