Jaime's PROM Story

By Jaime James, Micoud St. Lucia, West Indies
PROM at 23 weeks + 3 days. Delivery at 23 weeks + 3 days.
Story added: 2002-05-17
I'm a 22 yr old, healthy woman and this was my first preganancy.

It was a real stressful time for me, my mother had been diognosed with a brain tumour and died within 2 months of the diognosis, she was 44 i was 12 wks pregnant.

It was a trouble-free pregnancy until I went into labour, no morning sickness, no swollen feet, no excess whieght gain. Everything was perfect.

I had my first ultra-sound at 18 wks, then repeated it at 23 wks cause my OB-GYN thought I was measuring large for 18 wks. Three days after my 2nd ultrasound.

At 23wks 3 days, i woke up with slight cramps, but thought was nothing, later in the day the cramps got worse and my sac was hanging out, then i went to the hospital, the cramps got worse and my water broke at about 7pm. I delivered my daughter alive at about 11pm, she was to small to survive more than a few minutes.

My OB-GYn suspects a IC but this has not been confirmed and my family has no history of such so we're still no sure.
