I'm 21 years of age, I had my 1st child when I was 17 years old. When I started my prenatal visits everything seemed to be going great. The baby was growing ahead of schedule. Finally I was really excited about having a baby, let's just say I was on cloud 9. On the morning of Oct. 13th 1998 my world came crashing down. Well with the contractions came the prom, and I had my son at the local doctors office. I was 21 weeks, he lived for 4 hours and then past on.
Then 3 years later I found out I was expecting again, of course I was scared to death. The doctor that I was seeing had decided that I had what they call a incompetant cervix, so a cerclage was scheduled for 14 weeks. I went in for surgery on Oct. 29th 2001. I came out of surgery with flying colors, and was sent home on light duty. Every two weeks after that I had an ultrasound to make sure the stitch was holding and the baby was alright. On Thursday Dec. 6th my fiance and I went to our scheduled appt. and we found out we were having a boy. We were excited and everything was going great. Five days later on the 11th I was laying on the couch talking to my best friend (who also was pregnant) discussing which one of us was bigger, when I felt this wierd tingling sensation in my lower belly. I didn't think much of it, although I did get up to go to the bathroom. When I was done, I walked into the kitchen to make something to eat when I felt something running down my leg. Yes, my water had broke. My fiance rushed me to the hospital, where they proceeded to ambulance me to Souix Falls, SD. I was told that the stitch had eroded itself into my cervix and wasn't doing it's job anymore. On top of that the hole in my placenta wasn't closing. They kept me in the hospital and were going to keep me for however long it took. I only lasted 5 more days and I had developed a really bad infection in my uterus, they told us if I didn't deliver the baby we both would die. I went in for surgery to have the rest of the stitch removed, then they induced labor. I delivered our son the next morning. He was stillborn. Now I have my two angels Joshua Kelly and Conner Edward in heaven watching down on me.
It's now Nov. 25th 2002, and we're pregnant. I just had a McDonald Cerclage put in three days ago. Let's just say we're praying and hoping for the best!!!!!
