Sandra's PROM Story

By Sandra Walthall, Charlotte, NC usa
PROM at 16 weeks + 4 days. Delivery at 29 weeks + 6 days.
Story added: 2002-12-28
I was pregnant with triplets. My water broke at 16 1/2 weeks on one of my triplets (a high baby not the one presenting near the cervix). I never resealed and leaked amniotic fluid every day. I was taken out of work and put on modified bed rest at home. At 22 weeks, I obtained home monitoring. At 24 weeks I was hopitalized for pre-term labor. My doctors were able to stop the labor but kept me on strict bed rest in the hospital for the remainder of the pregnancy. We were warned that the baby possibly would not make it due to lung development issues. I delivered at 29.6 weeks due to an infection in the uterus--all babies were/are fine. I will say that my doctors were surprised that Sera survived and that she was not having lung issues but she proved them all wrong.

There is hope after PROM!!!!!
