Hello this was my third pregnancy that really took us by surprise I had a prior PROM but hey had determined tht it was due to an infection so I was in the clear for a regular pregnancy and I ran out and got a great bunch of midwives. Everything was great exxcept for the fact that I had horrible unrelenting morning sickness and I had just lost about 30 pounds-but it was great to be pregnant again.
Things took a turn for the worse at about 16 weeks again. I started t feel a low sinking feeling in my groin and started the back pain again-this time the midwives listened and scheduled a sonogram to check the baby and my cervix. I was not in horrible pain and showed no infection in my pap smear or bloodwork so the earliest appointment available was for four weeks from then, I was not working so this was fine with me.
Four weeks later I went in for the sonogram and the baby looked great, but my cervix didn't I was apparently already 4 centimeters dilated! I was rushed to the hospital and spent 8 hurs waiting for a surgeon to become available. After 5 attempts of giving me a spinal (I have scoliosed disks in my back) they were able to do the cerclage, and everything held-for two weeks only though. I was feeling great
and one day on the day I reached 22 weeks My water broke and my husband rushed me to the hospital - the cerclage was in place but my water was gone and they put me on antibiotics but expected me to go into labor soon, which I did. Sarah was born four hours later moving and breathing and heart beating. I really thought she had a chance. However in NY she was not considered viable so since she did not breathe well on her own they told me she would pass away becasue of her size she could not be intubated. She lived a few hours and did pass away, but this time I was able to tell her goodbye.
