Prom victims beware!! My name is Shelly and here is my story thus far. I am no medical expert. I was diagnosed PROM at 20 weeks. I had a major leak and lost and ultrasound revealed that I had 1 cm left. Upon staying 4 days in hospital on bedrest the leak seemed to stop and I went home. After another week it seemed there was very little leakage. What I have noticed is that I seem to leak after laying down all night. Ok ladies here is my theory. I was doing everything I was told to with no activity and bedrest however I did get up to pee. I became very frustrated leaking every morning so I have come to the conclusion that the leak must be located in the upper rear of the amniotic sac as although leak occurs when I stand up it accumulates when I am laying down. Hence, I have now been sleeping with my upper body completly elevated. I have had no leakage for 3 days. Today I decided to trying laying flat on my back for a few minutes. Sure enough I started to leak a bit of fluid. I am possitive I am right. I realise this is not scientifically proven as a possitive therapy but remember ladies according to all research I and my doctor have located neither is bedrest. I will keep everyone posted. In my opinion whatever I do as long as it appears to halt the leak I will keep doing. Laying flat out on my back was not the anwser . For those who are continuing to leak I encourage you to also experiment or discuss this with your doctor. If you think about it a leak can be anywhere and if you lay down and continue to leak it makes sense to me that as you sleep the fluid is leaking into the uterus and pooling only to come out in a gush when one stands up. I am sure this is not the case for everyone but the longer I can keep the fluid there for my baby even between leaks the better. I would appreciate info and input on my therory from any who would like to provide an opinion. I will keep you all posted as to my progress. I am currently 22 wks.
