By Nicole Spear, Stevensville, MI USA
PROM at 30 weeksDelivery at 30 weeks + 5 days.
Story added: 2006-09-02
My little miracle was born at 30 weeks 5 days due to PROM.. with no known cause.. She was 3#'s 3 ozs and 15.25" long.. she had very little assistance, IV feedings for the first 5 days and then feeding tubes. She had a grade 1 IVH but so far no long term efects have been seen. She did have a hard time mainting body temp for quite awhile though. I had an OB appt the day before this happend and all was well.. I was rushed an hour away as our local hospital does not have a NICU or even an intermediate care nursery for that means. I was put on IV antibiotics as well as pill form.. My blood pressure also sky rocketed.. not sure if it was what was going on or another issue.. 198/98 so I was also put on BP medication. I was told I would be there for 5-6 weeks but on day 5 she decided to poke her knee through my cervix and I started contracting.. So she was born via emergency C Section. She is now a healthy 9 month old weighing in at 16#! We are currently starting on #2 and was told I would probably have the same outcome so I will be put on bed rest at 20 weeks.. that pg took us 3 years of ttc so hopefully this one doesn't take the same

Thanks for listening
