Well, this was the second time that I was able to carry a baby past 6 weeks without having a miscarriage (I have had 3). My first son was born at 34 weeks and weighed 4'15". He is now 5 years old and is in kindergarten. My water broke early with him and they had to fly me by helicopter to the nearest hospital that had a good NICU. Anyway, when I got pregnant with my daughter everything seemed to go fine, except for a lot of Braxton Hicks starting around 5 months, and also gestational diabetes. I also have had hypothyroidism for about 8 years, and am on medication for it. Anyway, my water broke one afternoon when I was about 30 weeks along with her. They again flew me to Springfield, MO. and stopped my labor. They admitted me to the perinatal intensive care unit, and I was strictly monitored. 5 days after being there, my daughters heartrate began to drop. They rushed me into the operation room, nd did an emergency c-section. Clare was born a few minutes later weighing 3lbs. She was so tiny. My husband told me she was doing fine and didn't need oxygen. They had given me the steroid shots first thing when I got there, and I am greatful for that. She had to stay in the hospital for only 6 weeks, which the doctors say is rare that a baby that little can do so well. She is now 2 years old and is a very independent, and strong-willed little girl. I would like to have another baby, but am scared that the next one will be even sooner and have complications. If anyone has any advice, please email me. Thanks, Andria
