My husband and I were so happy to finally be pregnant after years of unexplained infertility. We had successfully conceived after our first attempt at IVF with a twin pregnancy. I had some bleeding early on in the pregnancy but it eventually tapered off before I reached 12 weeks. Since then everything was going great. One Sunday evening we had finished dinner and were preparing for bed. I went to the bathroom to and as I was urinating a gush of water came out involuntarily. I convinced myself that it may have been urine since it was clear with no odor and that perhaps one of the babies moved from my bladder. We called the hospital immediately and were advised to come in. It was confirmed that one of my babies water had broke. I was admitted and monitored with antibiotics and ultrasounds for the next 5 days. We were sent home on bedrest only to return due to a prolapsed cord. I became ill with infection and labor was induced. I delivered both of my baby girls within the next 5 days. I have never been so deeply hurt. To look at those small babies and feel so helpless. We are hopeful for a future pregnancy that ends with a healthy baby.
