Nicole's Post PROM Story

By Nicole, Sydney, NSW Australia
PROM at 38 weeks + 1 days. Delivery at 38 weeks + 3 days.
Story added: 2008-12-18
After Having my first at 33 weeks it was quiet a stressful pregnancy.
Add on top of that trying to sell a house, pack up a house, move interstate and find a place to live!
Nixon was only 9months old when i found out i was pregnant again.
I found an excellent OB who monitored me more closely. I was put on a course of Anti-biotics once a month through out my pregnancy to hopefully prevent an infection which could lead t0 PROM.
I had an extra ultrasound at 27weeks to check babies development and my uturus etc. All was looking well.
Week 32 & 33 were hard to get through, i just kept relaying in my head everything that happened last time.
I got passed the magical 33+3weeks and felt ok with the outcome from them.

Pleased to say that i made it to my 38th week of pregnancy when PROM occured at 38+1. I was much more sure of it this time, there was more fluid.
I was hoping for a VBAC but unfortunatly labour did not progress and at 38+3 exactly 5weeks further through my last pregnancy we welcomed our second son via c/s Tyron James weighing a healthy 7lb 10oz (3.45kg) He was jaundice but avoided phototherapy. He continued to have breastfeeding jaundice until 9-10wks therefor was quiet a sleepy baby, however he was healthy and is now a 14 month old Typhoon!
