Caroline was our third child. Our older two were also born premature due to PPROM...my first was born at 31 weeks and my second at 29 weeks.

With Carrie my water broke at 27 weeks and 5 days. I went to our local hospital, which we love and has a great NICU, but I was told they couldn't keep me before 28 weeks. By the end of that day I was taken my ambulance to a bigger hospital. I had a fever that day and just felt pretty bad.

The next day they decided to do an amnio to see if my fluid was infected but they could not get a sample. They tried like five times and it was pretty awful. I continued to have a fever off and on, and my heartbeat as well as the baby's was very high.

That evening it was decided to proceed with an induction. I was 27 weeks and 6 days along. The induction was started at 6pm and she was born at 10pm. Her apgar scores were 8 and 8 and she weighed 2 pounds 4 ounces. She went on the c-pap for one day, and then the canula for about another week after that. After one week we had her transfered back to our local hospital and the NICU there.

We brought Carrie home after about seven weeks. While in the NICU she had the usual preemie issues with dropping her heartbeat and learning to feed by mouth. Thankfully she was healthy by the time we brought her home. She is 2 1/2 now and perfectly healthy and normal.
