My story starts at my 8th baby. I was having a normal pregnancy up to my 24th wk. I started having painful contractions twice a day. I let my doctor know about them and he said its just braxton hicks and not to worry. my bag of waters broke at 4:30am at 28 wks I called my doctor and got the run around for acouple of hrs. I finally got a hold of someone and he told me to go to L and D. My hospital didn't have a NICU so I was life flighted to a hospital that did. It took 45 min. by helicopter. I was admitted and put on all kinds of fluids and antibiotics to keep my baby inside of me. It worked for a week and a half. He was born at 5:25am at 29.4 wks. He weighed 2pnds. 12ozs. . They took him straight to the NICU. He is named Donald after his grandfathers on both my husbands and my side. We call him Donny as do all the nurses. He was on c-pap for only 2hrs. He was on oxegen for 9 hrs after that and was breathing on his own by 11hrs. old. He was in an isolet (sorry about spelling) till he was 4 wks old at 4lbs. He was keeping his body heat on his own for about a week before that. He is now starting to take some of his feedings from a bottle at 4 wks. I am so relieved to have such a healthy baby who is so small. The two steroid shots really worked for our precious little Donny. Thank you for taking the time to read our story! If it hadn't been for the special Doctors in the Banner Good Sam in Phoenix we wouldn't have our beloved Donny. Debbie and Anthony
